June 2, 2008 Ethan's Kindergarten Celebration

A neighbor friend watched the girls for me so I could attend the program. It wasn't called "graduation" because Ethan still had school today and tomorrow yet.

All the kindergartners sang about 4 songs and then their teachers called them up 1 by 1 to receive their certificate. Unfortunately, my flash didn't work well from far away, but here are a few pics from that morning.

Next year he goes all day and eats lunch away from home.... just like Dad ;)

What do those numbers mean, you might be wondering?

Well. On Friday, May 30th, Dan and Britt celebrated their 10th Wedding Anniversary by playing tennis! Britt dominated the first set. The second set was pretty evenly matched, with Dan eeking out a win. The third set was Dan's.

It was wonderful. We had not played tennis in over 6 years (go figure).

We played for a good 2 hours.

The first set made me feel 6 years younger.

The second set made me realize I was in my 30's.

The third set made me feel in my 4o's.

And trying to get one foot out of the car back at home made me feel like I was placing 1 foot in the grave!

I'm so fortunate to have married my best friend. We have fun together. We get on each others nerves at times, but we get over it. We share our hopes, dreams, and dissapointments with each other. We laugh together and I get to cry on Dan's shoulder. We are blessed with 3 precious children together. And thank the Lord we love each other more now then 10 years ago. We pray we can say the same in 10 more years.

Returning to our date, I didn't mention the BEST part yet.

It was an OVER-nighter!!!!

Good friends watched our kids at their house Friday night.

So after cleaning up from tennis, we ate steak at a really good bistro.

Then we went to a 10 o'clock showing of Indiana Jones.

(If only we had matching mugs like J&J....)

Just before the late movie started I suddenly remembered: "Even when we get home, our date will not be over! We don't have to worry about getting home at 12:30 only to be woken up at 6:30 - or multiple times throughout the night. We can sleep in all morning!!!" Which we did - until 11:00. Then we went out for lunch at a pancake house.

It wasn't what we maybe would have planned 10 years ago for our 10th.

But with 3 young kids, the house to ourselves overnight was priceless!

Ethan's Field Day - 5/30/08

Yes, I know. These first 2 pics have nothing to do with Ethan's field day... other than they were taken at the end of May as well.

Grandma Jordan. Do you remember all those Barbie clothes you got Mom(Britt) but she never played with? Well, Krystin and I play with them alot now...... And not just as barbie clothes. Check out my cool hat!

On Friday, May 30th, Ethan and the rest of the K/1st graders had a field day. I was able to go for part of it and capture Ethan in action.

While Mom worked on assembling Dad's Birthday gift (see earlier post) in the garage, Kaylin and Krystin played with a neighbor friend in the front. They actually played together, and not just parallel play, but I took these photos toward the end of the playdate.

They all enjoyed the chalk.... mainly putting it on themselves!

Ahh. There they are. Putting the storage shed together!!!!!! (Mom was very excited) :)

And the things in Ethan's hands are not oversized gloves, they are the connectors to hold the walls together. He enjoyed helping Dad - of course.

And..... the finished shed!

(And no, Britt did not fully assemble the workbench. I ended up slicing my thumb. That is this week/end's project to finish.... the shed, not slicing my thumb)

Bread thief - part 1

... Just a couple days after the "banana bread incident", Dan and the kids made blueberry muffins for breakfast. They saved me 3. Coming down the stairs (about an hour after they already ate), I observed Krystin perched on a footstool pecking away at the muffins on the stovetop. The second picture gives a better perspective of the damage :)

To make things even funnier, while I was eating my 3 (kind of) muffins, Krystin comes up to me and innocently asks me for "Bi-ite?"

Like she didn't already have enough :)
