Trains, Planes, and Pedestrians...
Took the Cog Railway to the top of
PIKES PEAK
Seating Positions # 1
Seating Positions # 2
Beautiful Scenery along the way
Getting close to the top.
We stopped here to let another railcar pass.
While we waited, we saw a Marmot
Seat Positions #3
(or is it 4,5,6?... the girls didn't sit still.... if you can tell)
Ethan, on the other hand side, was happy
to stay seated by Dad. :)
Here he is waving to the passing train.
Finally,
We made it to the top.

Views From the Top
Awww....
How sweet.
A nice romantic picture of 2 happily married people
... with no children.
... Awww, how...... family-ish.
This is attempt 1 at a nice family photo.
......aaand after 5 attempts, this is as good as it got :)
Who is that dynamic duo performing death-defying feats?!?
... Britt and Trey
(Papa liked mountain climbing. Think climbing rocks is in our blood...)
Kari.....
My partner in shooting.... camera shots, that is.
Dad helping Ethan better see the view
Why am I laughing?
I held Krystin up to see the beautiful panoramic view.
Her reaction?
"Look! Railroad Tracks!"
These tracks were just below us :)
Heading back down the mountain.....
Look closely at Krystin' drawing.
Pulling into the train station
Kaylin with the only child-bought souvenir of the whole trip.
A bag of rocks.
(She got to hand pick them at the station)
(also at the station, we bought the kids matching gray Pikes Peak t-shirts)
Back at the Hotel.
Ethan took great pride the whole trip of being the
Key - Keeper.
(yes. He held onto it and everything)
For Supper we ate at the
Airplane Restaurant
After eating,
the girls wanted to take the plane for a spin......
... but then we figured someone older should pilot the plane
Uncle Trey pointing out a poster of the plane in action.
It was a refueling plane.
Did I mention the airplane restaurant was in walking distance of our hotel?
Ethan was a very responsible older brother and held Krystin's hand as there was no sidewalk and we had to walk in the street.
See?
A car is coming and he is pulling her out of the street :)
Back at the hotel,
there was just enough time for Kari to play dress-up with the girls
