Ethan is reading! Yesterday (Wed, May 24) Ethan read this book ALL BY HIMSELF! We had read it ONCE together the day before. Sheesh, it is a good thing he will be in preschool this year. I can't keep up with him! :)

Sunday afternoon naps and mowing

VERY rarely anymore do ALL 3 children take a nap, let alone at the same time. Ethan actually doesn’t nap at all. But due in large part to the family cold, it happened Sunday, May 21st. Dad was out mowing while they laid down for their “rest”. I forget what I did… I think I was washing bed sheets and catching up on email. It was really too bad we didn’t know AHEAD of time all 3 would crash....

Surprisingly, Kaylin takes better naps on the couch than when she was up in her room! Now Kaylin averages a 1 hour nap approximately 3 times a week.

Note Krystin hanging onto her "Paci". She can easily put it back in her mouth all by herself now. And sometimes it is a toy as well, being repeatedly plucked in and out and chewed on side-ways.

The treasured Mr. Fish.
While Ethan is not nearly as attached anymore, Mr. Fish is still caressed during sleep and "Fish Face" still pops up every once and awhile.

Ethan, just up from his nap, watching Dad mow. He is waiting for Dad to turn off the mower (to dump the clippings bag) so he can yell "Daaad" and give him his water.

Handing Dad his water.
The routine is that Dad mows the front and side yards first, and then the back. When he gets to the back, Ethan (with Mom's help) gives Dad a drink break. What was cute about today is that I had already given Dad a drink break while Ethan was still sleeping. When Ethan came down to watch, Dad was already in the backyard. It took Ethan about 1 minute before he piped up: "You need to get a glass of water, Mom!" Dad got TWO water breaks today :)

When Kaylin woke up she, too, joined the vigilant Dad watch.

The Krystin Update

5/6 - "Come here, tasty toes"

5/11 - Anticipating the "wipe off"
She drinks "mama milk" (as we have dubbed it in our family) around 8 am, rice cereal/baby food for lunch around 11:30, mama milk around 3:00, and rice cereal/baby food for supper around 6:00 - followed by a "milk topper" around 7:00. Bed time is around 8:00.

5/13 - Just after her bath.
Krystin is such a laid back, easy going, happy baby..... as long as you do NOT take away her bath washcloth! She WILL throw a LOUD fit if you attempt to do so. :)

Saturday, 5/20, Krystin rolled over from Back to Front over her right shoulder. This picture was taken just afterwards. (I know I posted a pic about 2 months ago about her rolling over - but that must have been a fluke.... this is the real thing now!)

Kaylin's Shoes

While Kaylin has been able to get her 1-strap, "tongueless" dress shoes on by herself for awhile, just recently she has been able to put on her 2-strap tennis shoes all by herself. The following pictures were taken on Thursday, May 11th after she had put them on the wrong feet. I told her “You did a good job putting your shoes on, but they are on the wrong feet. The butterflies go on the OUTside.” To which my determined 2 year old promptly took them off and proceeded to try again.

Let's see. This foot goes in THIS shoe....

almost done.... just... have.... to get this last..... strap....

Proud Girl :)

Backyard Play

Here are some pics from Friday, May 12 when the kids and I were playing in the backyard.

Ethan is starting to be a bit more adventurous with the climbing cube this year..... just as we were thinking (hoping) to get rid of it... :)

Kaylin on her horse. I love her wispy blond hair blowing in the breeze.

The only way to swing....

Precious toes. The socks are off because it was pretty warm, but Krystin's hood is up to keep the hot sun off her head (especially the bald spot!)
