Well. Praise God, the first week of homeschool went by without any major hiccups!
There of course was some minor chaos and slight changes to plans or methods, but overall, a positive experience.
One week down, only approximately 36 to go!!!!
We have decided to call ourselves the"Collingwood Bear Cubs"
and use Red and Black as our colors.

Kaylin's First day of KINDERGARTEN
(she only goes 1/2 day... well, so does Ethan!)
We start school at 9:00 with Prayer, Lord's Prayer, and Pledge. Followed by Calendar/Weather.
9:15 is our Bible and Verse Time.
9:30-11:00 is Reading/Spelling and Math
11:15-12:30 is the Unit Study time

Krystin did a great job of entertaining herself most of the time. She played with toys, looked at books, and did puzzles. Sometimes she would join us and other times I would give her activities out of a Preschool activity book.

We built a model pyramid
On Thursday we ate like the ancient Egyptians.
Wine (we used grape juice), Fig newtons (couldn't find fresh until later that day, but we did try them ;) - pita bread with honey, peas (granted, we used frozen, but that is the kids' favorite way to eat them), muskmellon, and garlic-herb chicken.

several varieties of figs exist. kari likes them more than me, but we both like the dark purple ones. i uprooted a small fig tree (purple variety!) last year, and planted it in our garden corner. hopefully it'll bear fruit next year...or i'll curse it ;)

Obviously, Trey is volunteering to be a go-to uncle for educational tips. Which will probably prove to be helpful. Looks like you're off to a great start, Mrs. C. Your students look enthused. Wish we could have joined you for your Egyptian unit, especially the meal segment....looks delicious.
So when do they start blogging as part of English class?? :)
