Kaylin's Shoes

While Kaylin has been able to get her 1-strap, "tongueless" dress shoes on by herself for awhile, just recently she has been able to put on her 2-strap tennis shoes all by herself. The following pictures were taken on Thursday, May 11th after she had put them on the wrong feet. I told her “You did a good job putting your shoes on, but they are on the wrong feet. The butterflies go on the OUTside.” To which my determined 2 year old promptly took them off and proceeded to try again.

Let's see. This foot goes in THIS shoe....

almost done.... just... have.... to get this last..... strap....

Backyard Play

Here are some pics from Friday, May 12 when the kids and I were playing in the backyard.

Ethan is starting to be a bit more adventurous with the climbing cube this year..... just as we were thinking (hoping) to get rid of it... :)

Kaylin on her horse. I love her wispy blond hair blowing in the breeze.

The only way to swing....

Precious toes. The socks are off because it was pretty warm, but Krystin's hood is up to keep the hot sun off her head (especially the bald spot!)

Dan's 29th Birthday

Monday, May 15

Dan’s birthday dessert. It was vanilla ice cream sandwiched between crushed graham crackers and chocolate syrup. Ethan decorated the left side and Kaylin the right side. (Britt would squeeze the tube icing while Ethan and Kaylin directed which way to go)

Birthday Boy blowing out his candles
For supper Dan stopped and picked up KFC.

Dan posing with the kids and his birthday cards/gifts. Ethan is holding the card from the 3 kids. Inside was a colored outline of each child's handprint and an offer to give Dad a 5 minute head/hand rub (or chin rub in the case of Krystin). Dan's gift from me was an hour long back massage and tickets to go see a 1-man comedy act Friday night. Unfortunately, both fell through :( I was on my 3rd day of being sick with a head cold and was not feeling well enough to give him his massage that night (but I will sometime soon). Then, by Friday night ALL 5 of us were either recovering from the cold or in the middle of it so we were not able to attend the comedy act, either! :(
Happy Birthday, Dan!

I call this my "Kari-esk" picture. No one (over the age of 4) was around to take a picture of Dan and me on his birthday, so we did the "long arm thing" :)

Mothers' Day 2006

3 Reasons why I love being a Mama!

Spending Mothers' Day afternoon coloring with my kids. They are really into coloring right now, which I am happy about. I picked up this cute little table at Babies R Us on clearance about a month ago.

No, Dan is not throwing up. He is drinking a glass of water upside down. The poor guy had REALLY bad hiccups almost all day. The upside down drinking trick (UDDT) fortunately DID help most of the time... for a while. (But did he try this upon his WIFE'S suggestion? no. Fortunately his wise Mom ALSO suggested the UDDT method! Thanks Sherry - and Happy Mothers Day - See, your son still needs you) :)

Happy Mothers' Day

For my MAMA:

Daughter and Mom
(Britt and Penni in Feb 05)

Mama,
Happy Mother’s Day 2006 !
Thought I would post a note on my Blog so everyone (the millions and millions) who check this site can know how much I love you and appreciate you :)

THANK YOU for showing me how God is in everything and cares about even the little things.
THANK YOU for demonstrating how to trust in God, even when we don’t understand His ways.
THANK YOU for your consistent prayers on my behalf over the years.
THANK YOU for letting me know that even if there are things I do or say that you don’t LIKE, you will always LOVE me.
THANK YOU for all the fun times and laughter over the years.
THANK YOU for the hugs when I was shedding tears.
THANK YOU that I can call you anytime about anything and I know I will have a listening ear (except I try not to call after 8:30) ;)

And I guess the biggest compliment I could give you is…..
May I turn out to be as great of a Mama for my kids as you are for me.
Happy Mother’s Day.
ILYCUTH, too!
Britt
p.s. – “Tears dried on my face while I wrote this” (well, my eyes were misty anyway)

For my Mother-in-Law:

The Wine goddesses
(Britt and Sherry in Sept 02)

Sherry,
When I would pray for my future husband, I did not think to pray for good in-laws. But God chose to BLESS me with a wonderful Mother-in-law as an added bonus to a wonderful husband. You have warmly embraced me as a part of your family. Thank you for being a Mother-in-law that I am truly HAPPY to spend time with whenever possible.
Happy Mothers’ Day with Love,
Britt
p.s. – and thanks for Dan :)

Baskets, Bushes, and a Beverage

Krystin (the one in pink) is now 6 months old :)

5/1/06 - Ethan and Kaylin (and Britt) made May Day baskets to take to the other neighborhood kids. Ethan and Kaylin really enjoyed taking them around. (But instead of running away, we just said "Happy May Day" since some people are unfamiliar with this tradition AND I wanted to let E/K see what happened to the baskets!)

Well, everyone ELSE in my family is posting pics of THEIR Lilacs, so I feel obligated to do the same.
The following 4 pictures are in honor of my MOM's website :)

An up-close look at our 2 lilac bushes.......

Let's take an even CLOSER look.......

Can you almost smell the fresh, sweet scent of lilac now? I would take more, even closer pics if i could, but I'm not sure if my camera would focus! ............

Ahhh - the aroma now free to waft about in our house :)
I love you, Mom. I DO enjoy seeing pics of plants and flowers from my "native state" on your website. But of course, I also enjoy teasing you :)
In all seriousness, I DO love the smell of fresh lilacs, which is why when we built our house I HAD to have a lilac bush. We bought 2 and planted them in the front of the house. However, every year for 4 years, it seems they take turns as to which bush blooms!
The following pics may be a bit more interesting as they contain my CHILDREN ....with the lilac bush!

5/1/06 - Ethan modeling the size of our lilac bush

5/1/06 - Kaylin inspecting our lilac bush (the one that is all leaves and no flowers this year)

5/1/06 - Krystin in the shade of our lilac bush

And for the final picture of this posting, may I present......

COKE BLAK – the American version.
This is in honor of my sis-in-law, Kari, who lives in France.
See! We, too, may now enjoy Coke Blak in our "neck of the woods" :) Must say that Dan and I both like it, but to have on its own and not as a beverage with food. Cheers!
(And does anyone know if I could get endorsement money out of “Coca-Cola” for giving them such wide-spread advertising coverage on my blog?!?)
