Iowa 09 Trip - Thurdsay 7/2

Mac Bride with Collingwoods

While Dan and I were getting ready to head over to Lyle and Sherry's, Mom and Kevin had a visitor in their backyard....

Grandma and Grandpa also kept the kids entertained with dominoes

And the kids kept themselves entertained by running the circuit

Dan headed over to his folk's while Mom and I had a lunch date at Thai Moon.
(I forgot to take a pic of her, so here is me looking up at the TV mounted on the wall, and the restaurant in the background)

By the time Mom dropped me off at the Collingwood's, it had warmed up enough for an outdoor excursion. We went to Lake MacBride for canoeing-paddle boating and a snack picnic

Sorry these pics aren't very good. Disposable camera.
This is Ethan/Dan and Chris/Christina
Poor Ethan. He was sure he would rather paddle boat. But Dan convinced him he was old enough to try canoeing. As Dan was standing and launching the canoe Ethan-first into the water, Ethan exclaimed in a near-panic tone: "Dad! Are you getting in?!?" :)

The paddle-boaters.
Sherry keeping an eye on Krystin in the back, and Kaylin in the front.
Do you know how hard it is to paddle 4 people by oneself? Now I do. It does not make for a fun experience. But we couldn't have the 2 girls in the back by themselves!
What to do?
Eventually, Dave and Jacque took Kaylin and we stuck Krystin between Sherry and I in the front!

Ethan ended up really enjoying the canoe and declared that he liked it better than paddle boats, afterall :)

Captain Krystin enjoyed steering
(Although Mom had to help, or my tired legs were not going to make it back to the docks!)

Christina/Chris and Dave/Kaylin/Jacque

The girls wading for a bit when we got done. In the background is Dan taking Ethan for a short spin on the paddle boat.
It was a fun, but tiring afternoon.
We relaxed back at the house that evening.
Kaylin was totally enamored with her new cousin-to-be "ELA"
She was often found cuddling Christina's belly or kissing it! :)

Did I say we relaxed?
Silly Uncle Dave - no relaxing for YOU!
