Krystin's 3rd Birthday

Our BABY is now THREE!!!!

Here are a few (meaning less than 50) highlight pics.

We didn't do any big party or adventure (this week has had plenty) - but we did have fun.

Following our family tradition of birthday child gets to pick their cake and help make it:

October - Paci Party

The Set Up:

Due to one major event after another happening in our family, it was hard to find a "good" time to make Krystin give up her Paci. But after arriving back from France, we finally said it was time.

(Ok - so part of it was Mom's reluctance to give up the joy of being able to "put a plug in it" - but I was well aware that I did NOT want a THREE year old with a paci. One should note that having a third child DID lax my previous position on having a TWO year old with one :)
Anyway, so after a few days of talking up to Krystin how she was getting to be a big girl and only babies use pacies, we decided to have a Paci Party.

Below are the incentives to follow through with the paci party :)

At this point, I was a little nervous it might not go well...

But fortunately she pulled through :) :) :)

After each one (I had her make 4 trips) I had her say: "Bye Paci. I'm a big girl!"

(no - I do not normally line each layer of trash with paper towels. But come on - I knew I would blog about this and who wants to see our real trash?!?)

She did really well, but you could tell she was pretty sad that first night. However, she has been a trooper and never once asked for her paci back.

(And Mom is doing well, too - thank you very much!)

Kaylin was still awake when I took the above picture so she wanted one of her taken.

I figured I would throw it in because it turned out cute - and this gorup of 4 postings focuses mainly on E and Krys.

October-Ethan's Spiritual Birthday

We celebrate Spiritual Birthdays in our family.

That means we remember the day that someonw decided to ask Jesus into their heart.

(note: while we do not believe one must have a specific day that they said the "sinners' prayer" to be a Christian, - we do believe one must trust that Jesus paid the price for their sin on the cross to receive eternal salvation. - John 3:16)

October 1st was Ethan's second birthday. He wanted brownies to celebrate.

The board game we got him for his present is based on the classic book "Pilgrim's Progress".

He likes it so much, he is teaching his sisters.

They play it almost every morning :)

October - Ethan's Field Trip

Ethan's class had a field trip to a local High School's agricultural days.

I was able to be a parent volunteer.

I think these quaile chickies were his favorite.

Erin K. - if you ever read this blog - I thought you would be proud of Ethan trying out a wheel :) Do you still have your old one? The bus ride was exciting. (as we walk to/from school)

Ethan's teacher is on the left in shades. I have been very impressed with her - (Thank you, God.)

October-Playtime

Family Fun night.

Krystin really did have fun. But she is crying here because Dad said she could be on his team. She wanted her OWN cards :)

The kids have really been enjoying the "sweet pickles" books lately. Here I am reading one of them. I liked how Krystin kept absent-mindedly stroking Ethan's hair while listening :) What child growing up with stairs doens't remember sliding down them is some manner?!?

I love Kaylin's form :) Ethan marvels at how fast she can go.
